Poker is a game of chance where players compete against each other to make the best hand. It can be played by a single person or a group of people. However, most games are played with a round table and poker chips.<\/p>\n
To start, the dealer deals one card to each player. They are then dealt from left to right. A player may check, fold or bet. Some games allow wild cards to be used.<\/p>\n
The highest hand wins the pot. Sometimes the pot is split between two hands. When a tie is formed, the best unmatched fifth card wins.<\/p>\n
Typically, a player who bets has the best hand. For instance, if the first bettor bets ten chips, the next bettor might raise by fourteen. If a player checks, he is said to stay in, and if he bets, he is said to call.<\/p>\n
The betting continues until everyone calls or folds. In some variants, players can shuffle or cut their cards.<\/p>\n
Most games have an ante. This is the amount of money a player must put into the pot to make a bet.<\/p>\n
After each round of dealing, a betting interval occurs. Players may check, bluff, or make forced bets.<\/p>\n
At the end of each betting interval, players must show their cards. All players but one can then fold.<\/p>\n
